I’ve been remiss….

What can I say?  Balmy summer days frolicking with my kids , house-hunting, road trips to Sesame Place.  It’s been an active season for us!  We’ve been to a ball game to celebrate “Amewica’s biwthday,”, a weekend trip for just “Mommy and Daddy” to Athens, GA for some research on moving to the area, and to spend a day at our National Zoo in DC.  (To check out some details of our shenanigans and pics of the house we’re considering, and our family, head over to brandonchecketts.com/journal to see my better half’s family blog!)

I have accomplished a bit of knitting, but of course, not as much as I’d like!  (I could always get more knitting time in!) I’m working on an epic project (well, it’s not really that big, but it’s… intense) — I’ll be able to share pics by Noah’s birthday on July 20th, but probably not 1 day before!  My only recent finished project (since Cinderella and the striped dress for Catie) is a pair of socks for myself that are too warm to wear in this weather!  (Did that stop me, though?  Ummm, not so much.  I’m lucky I didn’t overheat today!)

I used Cookie’s brilliant Pomatomus pattern.  I have been interested in this pattern for a while, but no yarn I had on hand seemed right for it, so I’d put it out of my mind a while ago.  I just recently looked at my (growing) stash with that pattern in mind, and discovered that I’d added the perfect yarn — Panda Wool in Neptune from my LYS sale.  It was a perfect marriage of yarn and pattern, and the socks turned out rather quickly!  I know Cookie’s inspiration for the socks was the Blue Fish, but I saw waves in my socks, instead of fish scales.  The waves pour over my feet like so much blue ocean water.  My only complaint is, why didn’t I fall in love with a superwash yarn?!?
