What to do?

I wanted to make a purple cardi for myself, and I found the perfect pattern for it (or so I thought).  I bought the pattern and special ordered the yarn.  Well, nothing like waiting for a special order to arrive to make you question everything else you have in mind!  So, I have 14 balls of Nature Spun sport weight inbound, and about a week to figure out what to do with it.  The original intended pattern was published in Classic Elite Luxe — it’s the Cabled Cardigan in Wool Bam Boo.  I love the shaping “implied” by the hourglass cables — just the kind of guidance my waist needs right now!  But, I really don’t like the “split” in the hem in the back (You can’t see it in that picture, but trust me, it’s there….. And while my waist can use shaping, my butt doesn’t need ANY guidance to spread out….)  I thought, “Well, I can just change the pattern to work it straight”, but I really need a pattern that I can just *follow* right now.  I want a break from computing and altering and switching.  I just want to knit….

So, now, I’m in search of a good sport weight or even worsted weight cardi that I know will work for me.  And the reason for my current complaint is this:  I *think* I’ve found my substitute pattern, in the Spring/Summer ’07 Vogue Knitting, #4, if you have the pattern — It’s a long cabled cardigan that I think would be flattering on me.  But I don’t *know* that this is the best pattern I have on hand, because I can’t find my Creative Knitting magazine.  It’s somewhere.  I just don’t know where.  I was knitting a sweater from it, and then lost interest.  I put the sweater and magazine away.  Now, I found the sweater, but not the magazine.  Not.  Fair.  I am reasonably certain that the *perfect* pattern for my yarn isn’t there, but I can’t know for sure without the magazine.  WHERE can it be?!?  If you know where my magazine is, can you please tell me where to look?  And if you know a better cardigan pattern, I’d be interested in that, too.  😉
