Entirely too much work for me to do again as a dishcloth, just for kicks, but I wanted to learn the method, and I think dishcloths are near-perfect learning instruments. No matter how badly it comes out, it’s useable. It never takes too long. You don’t spend your year’s yarn budget for the ball of cotton needed. And you can do it long enough to finish a representative swatch, and then decide if you like it enough to do it on a larger scale! I have a couple of variegated sock yarns that have short repeats. I’m one for longer repeats, so I’ve been having real issues figuring out what to do with them. I’m thinking that one is destined for a stockinette foot and a garterlac or entrelac leg….
